Snap On To Solus
The Snap-on Solus is the latest addition to the equipment manufacturer’s series of hand-held diagnostic tools.
Designed to provide the technician with faster performance and more diagnostic data the product has a much larger display than previous models, taking the technology used in Scanner to a higher level.
The product aims to provide more information more quickly. The large-screen design was added so that data can be evaluated at-a-glance and faults diagnosed more quickly. According to Snap-on it comes with “the world’s most advanced automotive diagnostics technology,” and a compact flash memory that dispenses with the need for cartridges.
“Solus was launched a year ago in the United States and, as well as winning a Motor ‘Top 20’ Product Award, has already proved a great success with American technicians. We are very confident of a similar response when UK technicians have the opportunity to examine in detail the features of this exciting new product,” commented Terry Barcham, Snap-on UK’s MD, at the product’s launch in June.
Enhanced Controller Area Network (CAN) vehicle communication capabilities are also part and parcel of the latest model. It has simple, user-friendly controls for enhanced navigation and is more intuitive to operate than other products, says the equipment manufacturer. It also comes with a half-UGA colour display that allows data to be seen more clearly. Colour graphing data capabilities also allow data to be accessed faster and with more accuracy. The infra-red printer capability aids printing and saves time.
Solus software updates can be delivered direct from the Snap-on dealer van via ScanBay, there is no need for cartridges or physical updates.
“Diagnostics is the fastest-moving and most complex area of the automotive aftermarket and we want to ensure that all our customers not only have access to the world’s most sophisticated hand-held diagnostics, but also to realise how quick and easy they are to use,” concluded Mr Barcham.
