Snap-on Celebrates 40 Years
Snap-on Tools is celebrating its 40th anniversary of the opening of its UK operation this year.
“Today we are clear brand leaders in the UK automotive tools market, with a commanding market share,” said Terry Barcham, Snap-on Tools UK managing director, at a recent press conference.
“When Snap-on Tools first opened in the UK in 1965, we had five salesmen and three backup staff. Today we have 420 dealer vans on the road and around 120 support people in our purpose built UK headquarters in Kettering with a further 45 field-based personnel. The amazing success that we have achieved has resulted from several factors, including a continual stream of great products created by constant R&D, which always keeps us ahead of the field.
“We have also been able to offer a unique service, with a calling pattern which engenders the closest of business relationships with our customers. We have also been able to offer the most flexible method of payment ensuring that our new products have always been affordable to the UK automotive trade.
“Looking back 40 years, I am amazed by what Snap-on Tools has achieved in the UK market place. And, to mark this our 40th year, we are introducing some very exciting new products, such as the new Snap-on Solus diagnostic tool, to ensure that we continue to stay well ahead of the field.”
