Optima Seeks Battery Distributors

A UK network of specialist battery dealers is being set up to handle the new range of Optima high-tech automotive batteries manufactured by Johnson Controls.
The Optima range of YellowTop dual power batteries is aimed at car customisers and ICE fans. Optima says that it combines the proven abilities of a starter battery with all the advantages of a deep cycle battery for optimum charge and recharge. The capacity to maintain higher voltage during the discharge cycle means that motorists can power all the electronics and play car audio systems louder and longer.

The battery can be mounted in any orientation, anywhere in the vehicle and all are completely maintenance free, due to the fully sealed system. Because of the power generated by the SpiralCell technology, Optima says that its batteries can be used to replace traditional lead acid batteries up to three times their size.

The range of batteries consists of five different types, ranging from 510 to 975 cranking amps, including the YTR 3.7, which is suitable for direct fitment into many European cars with the minimum of modifications and the YTS 2.7, which is suitable for many Japanese cars.
