Goodwill Gesture to US GP Attendees
Michelin has confirmed that it will refund the cost of US grand prix tickets to the 110,000 people that attended the ill-fated event, according to German newspaper, Handelsblatt.
However the manufacturer was keen to point out that its decision was merely a goodwill gesture and maintains that it would not have been legally obliged to refund costs. Furthermore the company has announced that it will buy 20,000 tickets for next year’s event, which will be distributed to some of those that attended this year’s race.
With regards to the FIA’s charge against the Michelin shod teams, the manufacturer commented that it was not acceptable that teams be held responsible for boycotting the race because it was not their fault.
