CTNA Introduces Compact Run-Flat System
(Akron/Tire Review) Continental Tire North America Inc. (CTNA) has introduced the ContiComfortKit (CCK); a run-flat system designed to temporarily seal a tyre puncture temporarily thereby extending mobility.
CTNA explained how the system works: The CCK, weighing 5.5 pounds, does not require installation, according to the manufacturer. It is plugged into a “powerpoint” outlet, while a flexible hose is connected to the valve of a flat tyre. Once the sealant tank is flipped up, and a button is pushed, a 12-volt compressor re-inflates the tyre and, at the same time, fills the tyre with a liquid sealant to seal the puncture. A built-in light helps with visibility at night, said CTNA.
Once treated with the CCK, the tire can be used at a maximum speed of 50 mph for up to 120 miles, according to CTNA. The CCK fits in the trunks of most vehicles, CTNA said, and also features a built-in compressor and tyre gauge.
