Kwik-Fit Director In Charity Bike Ride
Kwik-Fit Fleet corporate accounts director Nigel Davies was one of a group of 15 cyclists who took part in the 180-mile ride from Brussels to Rotterdam in May, raising more than £6,000 in aid of a specialist palliative care centre in West Sussex.
Four years ago, Mr. Davies and several members of this year’s party cycled from East Grinstead to Paris, raising more than £12,000 for local children suffering from leukaemia. Soon after that ride, Alan Bainbridge, one of the riders, was diagnosed with a brain tumour. He died at St. Catherine’s Hospice, Crawley, in August 2004 and this year’s ride was in memory of Mr Bainbridge.
Nigel Davies paid tribute to Alan Bainbridge, saying: “His motivation and bravery during his illness was inspiring to all who knew how much he was suffering. This sponsored bike ride is a fitting tribute to Alan. The money that will be raised is going to an excellent cause.”
Many businesses connected with the fleet industry, including Kwik-Fit and Michelin, have made donations and Mr Davies says that anyone who wants to give can still do so and that all donations will be greatly appreciated. Donations can be made at http://www.justgiving.com/cycletorotterdam
