Kumho Slides into Drift Competition

(Akron/Tire Review) Kumho Tire USA has expanded its 2005 motorsport efforts, making its first appearance in professional drifting competition. Florida-based Enjuku Racing will compete on Kumho Ecsta MX tyres in Formula Drift, World Drift Challenge and D1 Grand Prix events. The team made its debut at a Formula Drift event in New Jersey on 16 April.

“We’ve been evaluating the sport of drifting for the last few years,” said Rudy Consolacion, Kumho motorsports manager. “We were looking for the right time and the right opportunity to get involved with drifting, and the right time and opportunity have arrived.”

“Kumho has a great history of involvement in grassroots and professional racing,” said Team Enjuka lead driver and team captain Matt Vassallo. “In 2005, Team Enjuku will help test and debut a new tyre for Kumho. We are very excited to be part of the Kumho motorsports family this season. We have high expectations and are eager to show what we can do.”
