Hi-Q Supports Topless Challenge
Hi-Q Stafford Tyres is helping a Stoke businessman complete a rather draughty charity challenge – driving to John O’Groats and back, in a car with no roof.
John Stephenson, who came up with the idea whilst stuck in a traffic jam, is undertaking the ‘Z car challenge’ in aid of Douglas MacMillan Hospice based in Blurton, Stoke On Trent.
“I wanted to do something to support a charity I have been involved with for years and the idea of a twenty four hour drive to John O’Groats just appealed to me. Then when other people jokingly suggested things like removing the roof panels I thought – why not.” said John, a self confessed car fanatic who is based in Dresden, Stoke on Trent.
The ‘Z car challenge’ – named after the two Nissan 300 ZX sports cars being used in the event, will see two teams, comprising; John and his co-driver John ‘Mad Man’ McDonagh and father and daughter team, Ian and Kerry Pollendine, drive from Trentham Gardens to John O’Groats and back in just twenty-four hours. It takes place over the weekend of the 9 / 10 April and sets off at noon from the Staffordshire beauty spot. “Hi-Q Stafford Tyres has very kindly offered to donate Goodyear tyres. Given the fact that each car has done over 100,000 miles, we couldn’t have done the trip without their help.”
