Hankook/Slovakia Negotiations Underway
(Akron/Tire Review) The Slovak Spectator reported today that negotiations are underway between the Slovakian government and Hankook Tire Co regarding a new $650 million tyre plant for that country.
Slovakia Economics Minister Pavol Rusko told the English-language newspaper that talks designed to bring the planned tyre facility to the Eastern European country – specifically in Levice in the Nitra region – are progressing. “If the negotiation of the contract ends successfully, it would be the second biggest investment in Slovakia after the Hyundai/KIA plant near Žilina,” Mr Rusko told the paper.
The minister also revealed that Slovakia has entered talks with both Matador Puchov and Continental AG aimed at landing planned plants from those companies.
