Goodyear Constructs New Retread Factory
Goodyear Canada has announced that it will construct a new truck retreading factory in Beloeil replacing the existing facility Ville St-Laurent.
The move represents a “strategic choice for Goodyear Canada” said Mr Bernard Plante, general manager for Goodyear Canada. 5.2 million Canadian dollars will be invested in the project, which will produce a 69,000 sq ft building.
“Not only will our factory be much larger and much more modern, but this one will also be equipped with sophisticated equipment, making it possible to apply the most recent technologies regarding the retreading of truck tyres,” said Mr Plante.
Of the 5.2 million, Goodyear intends to invest 1 million in computerised equipment, to increase the effectiveness and the output of the factory which is expected to produce 30,000 units in its first year, doubling within two years.
