Goodyear and Continental Receive General Motors Supplier Awards
General Motors has awarded Continental Automotive Systems and Goodyear with supplier awards. GM gave the 2004 “Supplier of the Year Award for Tyres” to Goodyear in a ceremony held at GM’s vehicle engineering centre in Warren, Michigan. GM’s vice president of global purchasing and supply chain, Bo Andersson, noted: “Only suppliers that drive to be world class and exceed GM’s expectation in quality, service, technology and price win this award.” This year, fewer than 80 suppliers were selected for a top supplier award from GM.
Continental Automotive systems received an award recognising the quality of the components it supllied. “As a Supplier of the Year, we will be the brake and chassis supplier of choice to General Motors,” said Bill Kozyra, president and CEO of Continental Automotive Systems, North America.
The GM Supplier of the Year award, which began in 1992, recognizes suppliers that consistently perform in the areas of quality, service, technology and price. A global team of executives representing purchasing, engineering, manufacturing and logistics selects the winners each year. This year, GM honored 78 suppliers for their performance in 2004.
