Bridgestone to Build Fourth Tyre Plant in China
(Akron/Tire Review) Bridgestone Corporation is planning to invest about $300 million in the construction of a fourth tyre plant in China, the company recently announced.
The plant will be located in Huizhou in the southern province of Guangdong and is scheduled to begin production in January 2007. Output will increase gradually until reaching 5,000 tyres per day by the first half of 2009, according to the manufacturer.
Bridgestone already operates a truck and bus tyre plant in Shenyang and two other manufacturing facilities in China that produce passenger tyres. Bridgestone said the increased capacity is needed to meet rising demands for truck and bus tyres.
