Bridgestone e-Reporter Finalists
Following the San Marino Grand Prix last weeked, Bridgestone has announced thenames of the seven finalists of its e-reporter competition. The pan-European contest for aspiring young journalists has received an “overwhelming” response from students across Europe, according to Bridgestone.
Entries were judged on the demonstration of not just writing ability, but also background research, an appreciation for the target audience, eye for a good story, enthusiasm for the sport, and creativity.
The seven finalists that will attend a European Grand Prix and report on the new GP2 Series are:
Dorian Patynowski, Lublin, Poland
Reijo Savolainen, Jyväskylä, Finland
Guy-Lionel Loew, Kingersheim, France
Dieter Lenaerts, Rijkevorsel, Belgium
Laurence Edmondson, Bristol, UK
Mike Channell, Wakefield, UK
Russell Atkins, Warwick, UK
An overall winner will then head to Japan to cover a major international Bridgestone event. In addition, they will be equipped with a state of the art laptop computer to aid their reporting and future career.
Commenting on the entries, ITV F1 pundit, Tony Jardine said: “The standard of entries this year has been phenomenal, and we are delighted at the amount of students representing countries such as United Kingdom and France in the competition.
The judging round in Bahrain was tough, as myself, Jeremy Hart and Rachel Ingham read through the transcripts in detail, and had difficultly in narrowing it down to just seven finalists from the hundreds of entries. I look forward to seeing what they are capable of while reporting on GP2, and believe Bridgestone e-reporter is the ideal stepping stone for young individuals looking to break into international sports journalism.”
