Tenneco on Tour
Tenneco Automotive is embarking on a new safety campaign called ‘Testing Days on Tour.’ The manufacturer is putting a fleet of testing vans on the road to travel across Europe, testing motorists shock absorbers, springs, exhaust systems and catalytic converters checked, free of charge at participating garages.
The vans will be operated by Monroe and Walker engineers, and fitted with diagnostic tools, including a shock tester, gas analyser, opacimeter, mounting tools and a Walker endoscope, which will allow drivers to inspect their exhaust systems.
A full shock absorber inspection and diagnosis will be carried out as well as vehicle suspension system checks on shocks, springs, mounting kits and protection kits. The exhaust system and catalytic converter will also be thoroughly checked, says the company.
“Shock absorbers and springs form a key part of a vehicle’s ‘Safety Triangle’ of brakes, tyres and shocks,” explains the company, “if one part of the triangle isn’t working properly, it compromises the others, and brakes and tyres – together with other safety systems such as ABS and ESP – won’t perform optimally when operating in conjunction with worn shock absorbers, increasing the chance of an accident.”
“We want to encourage drivers to be safe and keep their shock absorbers and exhausts in the best possible condition,” said Mark Tejedor, ride control product manager of Tenneco Automotive, “so we’re taking advanced diagnostic systems and expertly trained technicians direct to them.”
