Ringtread Extends to 70 Series
Marangoni Tread has added five 70 series tread designs to its range of Ringtread precured tread rings.
The launch reflects “continuing and rapid growth in the importance of 70 series fitments across Western Europe,” says Marangoni, adding that the segment now accounts for 5.9 per cent of 22.5 inch tyre sales across the region.
In the Italian manufacturer’s eyes the trend towards 70 series fitments poses a number of challenges to the retreading industry. The fact that 70 series tyres are smaller and therefore complete more revolutions than their higher profile counterparts, means that the retreading process has to be able to cope with increased heat build-up and minimise balancing problems, it explains.
Marangoni believes its Ringtreads are the answer. Cured in circular moulds, the rings are concave in profile, and designed to follow the curvature of the tyre casing and offer tension-free adhesion.
According to the company the lack of deformities in the tread and undertread also reduce overheating and damage and offer uniform rolling resistance for improved fuel consumption.
The five Ringtread patterns, which have been expanded to include 70 series versions, are Energeco, RD2 Plus, MDA, RMS8 and E-PZA.
