Kwik-Fit Staff Set for World Record Attempt
Kwik-Fit is urging the fleet and tyre industries to sponsor its world record attempt and support the Tsunami appeal at the same time. 300 Kwik-Fit staff family and friends are aiming to break the existing record for the most people rolling tyres simultaneously over a designated distance.
The attempt will be made on 13 March under the watchful eyes of Guinness World Record officials at Chester Racecourse. The current record was set on 2 June 2004 by pupils and staff at Fermanagh Elementary School in Pennsylvania, US and saw 237 people rolling one tyre each over 100 metres. Kwik-Fit’s Chester-based Western Division is behind the latest world record attempt and has already raised £10,000, including a £5000 donation from Continental.
“Our ambition is to break the world record and raise £50,000 for the Tsunami Appeal. If companies donated £500 to sponsor a tyre we would easily exceed our fundraising target. In return companies will be able to advertise along the length of the 100 metre course. We hope to obtain national television, radio and newspaper publicity for the event,” western division commercial manager, Brian Redhead explained.
