Goodyear Retread Facility Gets Green Light
Goodyear Dunlop has been given planning permission for a new retread facility. The announcement signals the move of the truck tyre retread facility from its existing location to a newly refurbished building at the south end of the company’s Bushbury, Wolverhampton, plant.
The full approval given by the planning office of the local council means brand new facilities for the Goodyear Dunlop associates including new offices, showers and a communication centre. This new building is being enlarged by one third and will house primary processing activities for the retreading of truck tyres.
According to the company, the layout of the new facility has been designed to ensure the most effective process flow. It has also been agreed that all equipment would be moved in the summer shutdown to ensure no impact on the supply of retreaded tyres to our customers, the company added.
Eugene Jonker, production director of Goodyear Dunlop’s Wolverhampton site said: “This week we begin the structural changes to our new Retread facility. This signals not only the start of the remodelling of our Wolverhampton plant but is the final go-ahead on work, which promises to provide an exciting new future to our oldest UK plant.”
