BFRC to Sponsor Great American Cleanup
(Akron/Tire Review) For the fourth consecutive year, BFS Retail & Commercial Operations (BFRC) will sponsor the Great American Cleanup, an organised community improvement initiative that runs from March through to May, announced Bridgestone Americas Holding (BAH).
Each of BFRC’s retail stores will accept scrap tyres, used engine oil and automotive batteries for recycling. In addition, retail locations will participate in locally organised community cleanup events. Most collected scrap tyres will be recycled into construction material, fuel and rubberised surfaces for playgrounds or roads, said BFRC. Employees of BFRC will volunteer their time, and the company will donate volunteer appreciation incentives.
“Last year, we were able to help collect more than 1.2 million scrap tyres, a 33 per cent increase. This year, we want to increase our participation by working with all of the Bridgestone Americas’ companies located in the US,” said John Sheerin, BFRC retail environmental manager.
