BFNAT Plant Enters Environmental Programme
Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire’s (BFNAT) LaVergne, Tennessee, tyre plant has been accepted into the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) National Environmental Performance Track (NEPT) program, Tire Review has reported. The LaVergne plant joins five other BFNAT plants already involved in the voluntary program.
To qualify for the NEPT program, the LaVergne facility had to fulfil a number of requirements, including: maintaining a record of compliance with environmental regulations; incorporating safeguards in its strategic planning process that reduce environmental impacts; enhancing systems to evaluate environmental performance; and making any needed corrections to maintain an environmental commitment.
Four other BFNAT facilities – located in Des Moines, Iowa; Warren County, Tennessee; Aiken County, South Carolina; and Oklahoma City – joined the programme as charter members in 2000. BFNAT’s Bloomington, Illinois, facility joined the program in 2003.
