Goodyear Aviation Win Ryanair Contract
Goodyear Aviation is to supply tyres and tyre maintenance to Ryanair, under a new five-year contract.
The contract with the low budget airline began on 1 January and includes the delivery of new tyres and the repair and overhaul of aviation tyres that supply the current fleet of 66 Boeing 737-800s. This will extend to a further 96 aircraft, with up to 123 options to be delivered up until 2009.
Michael Hickey, Ryanair’s director of engineering said: “We are delighted to have entered into this exclusive initial five year agreement with Goodyear for the provision of aviation tyres for our fleet of Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Goodyear Aviation tyres is an accepted world class provider of aviation tyres and tyre services and we have secured an efficient long term low cost agreement for a quality product which will enable us to support our existing and growing Boeing 737-800 fleet.”
Goodyear Aviation’s global marketing manager, Mr Don Roulett, added: “This agreement is consistent with what other major Boeing 737-700/800 operators already know about the value that Goodyear delivers, landing after landing. Major airlines in the USA such as Southwest, Delta and American operate all their Boeing 737s with Goodyear Aviation tyres.”
