Bandag Continuum with OTR
Bandag is set to introduce a new line of off-the-road precure retreads to the American tyre market.
The new range, Continuum, is designed for light and medium earthmover tyres and includes two serpentine tread designs, which, in Bandag’s words have been created to offer “greater flexibility than other retread application methods and products.”
Robert Otting, product manager, global tyre products commented: “Our new serpentine tread rubber design simplifies the retread application method for a diverse cross section of equipment used in the construction, mining and port industries. When finished and cured, the retread will have a consistent, new-tyre appearance far superior to the hand-sculpted method used by many tire retreaders.”
Because the tread rubber is produced in pre-measured segments it can be applied to a radial or bias tyre without cutting or splicing. The serpentine design is available with Continuum 1040 and 1070 treads and is intended for construction and material handling equipment. Eight additional Continuum tread designs are also available for specific applications in the mining and port industries.
Bandag Europe currently manufactures and distributes a different product programme for the earthmover segment and according to the company it is investigating the future possibility of co-coordinating the newly launched Continuum product line with its European product line.
