Further Success for Michelin
A second win for Markko Märtin has clinched both runner-up honours for Ford-Michelin in the 2004 Manufacturers’ World Championship and has promoted the Estonian to within three points of Petter Solberg in the competition for the silver medal in the Drivers’ classification.
Markko Märtin and Ford-Michelin believe that they have “proved that their win two weeks ago in Corsica owed nothing to the fact that their main opponent, Sébastien Loeb, had his sights set more on claiming the necessary points to clinch the 2004 Drivers’ and Manufacturers’ titles than gunning for outright victory.”
French Subaru-Michelin privateer Stéphane Sarrazin came fourth in the event and outpaced the factory Impreza WRC of Petter Solberg who came in fifth place running on rival tyres.
