Matador gets the Green-Light to Supply VW
Volkswagen has selected Matador’s so-called “green tyre” for original equipment on its Polo model.
Miroslav Klabník, director of the Rubber Research Institue, explains why Eliter 2 is known as a “green” tyres: “Green tyres have reduced weight, minimized rolling resistance and increased safety by meeting precise braking distance limits and very good reliability. These properties are aimed at the parameters of economic and safety operations of the car. The green tyres have to fulfill these properties during a series of very demanding tests.”
According to Matador, developing a product that could attain these standards was a costly but worthwhile process. The company says it was its intention throughout the process was to reach the world’s top producers and the companies that dictate trends in this area.
“By completing its offer in the area of tyre sales – ranging from passenger, light truck and truck to off road, SUV and OE tyres for leading car producers – Matador is pursuing its strategy to build up a marketing and customer oriented company of European quality,” said Dr Stefan Rosina, chairman of the board of management and company president. “This release is a great success for Matador in our process of building and strengthening the trade mark awareness. It creates possibilities to penetrate directly to the customer and the car industry through the original equipment of Volkswagen cars. It is also a big opportunity to gain a good and stable position on the market with spare parts.”
Matador will supply Volkwagen with its MP42 Elite 2 in the 185/60 R14 size. In addition to supplying these tyres as original equipment on Polo models, the company is keen to point out that the tyres will be recommended for other similar vehicles. “The release of 185/60 R14 MP 42 tyre is a general release for all Volkswagen cars with identical chassis. It means that these tyres are recommended not only for the Volkswagen Polo, but also for Skoda Fabia and Seat Ibiza. This success is the best evidence of the possible cooperation in the future with car producers Kia and Peugeot,” adds Dr Rosina.
