Deldo Reports Record Sales
Deldo Autobanden has announced record sales figures. In September sales increased by more than 30 per cent compared with the same time in 2003, the company says. The new record now stands at more than 500,000 units. Deldo says it is looking forward to selling 550,000 units next month and therefore setting another new record.
The last time the Belgian wholesaler broke its sales record was in October 2003. This year the company attributes its success to “strong sales of winter tyres” and specifically the company’s Eurowin product. According to the wholesaler, the Eurowin has become an important part of its winter strategy in recent months. “People know the tyre, its high quality and strong pricing,” said a Deldo spokesman.
In addition to sales of its Eurowin range, the company believes the introduction of studdable Wanli and Sunny brand tyres has improved sales in the Eastern and Northern European regions. Deldo defines these as surplus sales, explaining that the “studdable-market” is quite new to Deldo.
The company is understandably positive about its sales growth, and is aiming to similarly increase its figures in other markets. According to Deldo, sales are growing most in Scandinavia, Germany, France and Spain, where the company says its sales teams are “doing a great job.” Deldo expects a smaller level of growth in the UK. The company is keen to point out the differences between the UK and other European markets. The main difference being that the UK is not a “winter country.” There is very little seasonal influence on tyre sales, says the company.
Deldo describes the UK as a true “budget market” and cites negative factors such the strong pound and supply limitations.
Deldo’s news follows what the company describes as steady growth over the past 30 years and a “business boom” in the last decade.
