Conti Says “No Decision Made Yet”
“We have not made a decision yet.” That was the comment of a Continental spokesperson in Hanover, Germany, in response to rumours that the tyre manufacturer has already decided to end the joint venture with the Moscow Tyre Plant.
Discussions in Moscow are still active between the two parties and Conti’s spokesperson was keen to emphasise that the results of these talks have in no way been predetermined.
At the end of last week German media sources published information concerning the problems that Continental was experiencing in developing the venture. Conti’s board member Dr Hans-Joachim Nikolin confirmed that among other difficulties the joint venture in Moscow would cost 40 million euros to complete installation.
The project has been put on hold says the spokesman as no further investments will be made into the venture for the time being.
