Bandag to Supply Volvo Fleets
Bandag has announced that Volvo has selected it as its pan-European tyre-retreading partner. Under the new agreement, Bandag will supply retreads to Volvo Trucks workshops.
Volvo, the world’s second largest producer of heavy trucks, says its fleets enjoy the back-up of Volvo Trucks service workshops worldwide and now they will use Bandag retread products. Already a number of selected Bandag Dealers have been involved in the launch of this new partnership, beginning with Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Spain, and France. Other European countries will follow at a later stage.
Following the agreement, the company says that it will help Volvo to integrate retreading into the service range of its workshops by providing extensive training. Both Bandag Dealers and Volvo Trucks workshops will explain to customers how a combination of premium new tyres and top-quality retreads will help them to extract maximum returns from their tyre investments.
According to the Bandag, Volvo’s good standing within the industry is based on the principle of truck reliability, meaning both safety and uptime. Bandag officials report that, in addition to the “time and cost-saving factors that the its retreads offer, Volvo was also impressed by the positive contribution that retreading makes to the environment.” Producing a retread requires far fewer raw materials than manufacturing a new tyre and also saves millions of valuable tyre casings from being scrapped, dramatically reducing tyre disposal volumes.
Both companies acknowledge a synergy in company culture. Commenting on the news a Bandag spokesperson said: “Bandag’s long-standing business values fit in perfectly with Volvo’s philosophy on reliability, safety and environmental care.”
