TIA Help Hurricane Recovery
The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has announced that it will offer resource assistance to its members in Florida, South Carolina and Georgia who were affected by Hurricanes Charley and Frances.
Roy Littlefield, TIA executive director, stated: “We wanted to do something to help our members in this time of need and felt if we offered one central resource, it could reduce the time our members would have to search for contact information. We hope to reduce some of their frustration by having to make one phone call instead of ten.”
The two enormous hurricanes are likely to have significant impact on the both tyre and car sales in the US. According to Deutsche Bank analysts, there is not doubt that the storms will have “material impact” on car sale. The huge size of the second hurricane and its timing, coinciding with the US Labour Day holiday, suggests that there will be an even greater negative impact after Frances. As Florida typically accounts for 8 per cent of U.S. auto sales, some analysts are suggesting that sales weakness could also spill over to Georgia and Alabama.
