Polish Market to Grow 3 per cent
The Polish tyre market is to grow at a rate of three per during 2004, according to Goodyear estimates. The company, which has invested in domestic tyre producer, Dębica, believes Polish consumers will buy a total of 7.1 million new tyres in 2004.
The value of tyres sold in Poland is growing faster than their quantities, but the structure of the Polish market remains very different to that of Western Europe. “It seems that the market is moving towards EU standards. However, none of the EU members has recorded such a rapid growth as the one currently observed in Poland,” said Dębica sales director Jacek Pryczek. According to the report’s authors the increase in demand is partly due to the rising number of vehicles in the country. “Over the recent years there have been a growing number of cheap brands which are competing with used tyres. I believe that car owners will choose new tyres,” said Mr Pryczek.
