Mitas Becomes CGS

In the future Mitas US will be known as CGS (Ceska Gumarenska Spolecnost) Tires US Inc, said Mitas president Dennis Vavrik. The renaming process, which will affect all of the company’s subsidiaries, comes after Mitas’ Czech Republic based parent company (CGS) acquired Continental AG’s agricultural tyre business (see T&A July 2004).

The new name will formally take effect on the 1 October and will coincide with the relocation of the company’s US offices. The Mitas headquarters will move from Upper Saddle River, New Jersey, to Charlotte, North Carolina, previously Continental Tire North America´s base. The move will enable Mitas “to give our customers better and more sophisticated service,” according to Mr Vavrik.
