Point S Appoint Olivier Steier as New President
The general assembly of Point S in France has announced the appointment of Olivier Steier as its new president. Mr Steier succeeds Jean-Piere Legros who decided not to stand for re-election.
Olivier Steier will be responsible for developing a dynamic and powerful image for the group and for regulating decisions made by the board of directors. Olivier Steier, 37 years, is the son of Robert Steier, someone whose roots are found at the origin of the French Point S network 1971.
“I am very honoured to be the president of a network which nourishes great ambitions. The phase of reorganisation belongs to the past, our [new] objective is simple: to ensure our position as market leaders,” said Mr Steier. “I have four priorities,” the new president explained, “to unite the whole of the network, to control the application of the decisions taken by the board of directors, to develop a dynamic and powerful image, and finally, to be an ambassador to suppliers in European countries and the whole of the market.”
In 1994 Mr Steier joined Steier Tyres, in Pantin near Paris. In 2000 he earned a seat on the board of directors. Today Point S is positioned as a specialist distributor for SUV, 4×4, truck and agricultural vehicle tyres. With a European network of more than 1000 retail outlets made up of 6000 people, Point S generated sales of 1.4 billion euros in 2003. Comprising of 270 retail outlets at the end of 2003, the Point S network has added 19 new centres to its number since the beginning of this year. Point S maintains a presence in nine countries and does not yet operate within the UK.
