Bridgestone To Supply GP2
Bridgestone Motorsport has confirmed that it will be the official tyre supplier of the newly launched GP2 single-seater series when it begins in 2005.
Mr Hiroshi Yasukawa, director of Bridgestone Motorsport was delighted with the news. “Bridgestone is extremely proud to have been chosen by the GP2 series organisers as the official tyre supplier. It is a wonderful opportunity for Bridgestone’s tyre engineers to play a greater role in the education and training of
young drivers as they aspire to become our future world champions. As supplier of tyres to the past six consecutive FIA Formula One World Drivers’ and Constructors’ Champions, we recognise the importance of nurturing talent and we look forward to working with the next generation of Formula One Grand Prix drivers as they develop their skills and technical knowledge in the GP2 Series. Furthermore, the GP2 Series organisers will present to the overall winning driver of the category a sum of US$100,000 which is to be known as the ‘Bridgestone Prize.’”
The GP2 series is set to become the final step on the ladder before entering the FIA Formula One World Championship, providing a clear route for ambitious drivers with a clear route to the pinnacle of single-seater racing.
