TIA Launch Global Council
The Tire Industry Association launched its Global Council at the Reifen 2004 trade show in Essen. The Council was formed in February 2004 with the intention to “pursue effective solutions for today’s global tyre industry.”
The Reifen show provided the Council with the opportunity to seek new members and provide information concerning the TIA’s programme. The TIA had last participated in the 1998 show and returned this year with a position in the US exhibition area.
“We were extremely pleased with the enthusiastic reception we received from visitors to our booth at Reifen 2004,” said Anne Evans, chairman of the TIA Global Council. “I think we are well on our way to achieving the TIA’s Global Council’s goal of making the Council the “voice of the tyre industry” worldwide. Reifen was the perfect place to introduce the Global Council to the international marketplace.” Anne Evans is the president and chief executive of Tyres 2000 Limited, and chairman of EER Limited.
“Many visitors to the TIA booth purchased international memberships and were excited about the web and CD-based Automotive Tyre Service technician training,” said Paul Hyatt, TIA Secretary and Director. “We’re looking forward to expanding our presence in the global marketplace where we currently have members from over 65 countries.” Mr Hyatt, president of Superior Tire Corporation in Toronto, Ontario will become the first TIA international president in November of 2006.
“Clearly there is great respect for TIA in the international community,” said Roy Littlefield, TIA executive vice president. “Our training programs and conferences, including the TIA World Tyre Expo, were of great interest to the Reifen attendees. We are looking forward to the possibilities the Reifen 2006 show will offer.”
