Goodyear Win Innovation Award
Goodyear’s Two-Piece Assembly was has won a Nortech Innovation Award at the 2004 award. The ceremony, held 8 June was sponsored by the Northeast Ohio Technology Coalition. Nortech’s annual innovation awards recognise companies, non-profit organisations and individuals that have been responsible for creating, developing or implementing new ideas.
The Two Piece Assembly, which has been described as “so revolutionary that it is not really a tyre at all” was developed for large mining trucks that transport huge quantities of earth and rock. As the name suggests it consists of only two parts; a casing and a separate tread belt package. Nortech judges praised the product’s ability to reduce the time that tyre changes take.
“Like the radial tyre and the all season tyre, this will change the customer’s buying habits” said Goodyear Tyre and Rubber’s executive vice president, quality systems and chief technical officer, Joseph M. Gingo.
