Universal Tyre Pressure Monitoring
Siemens Automotive has developed a Type Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) with universal application to all standard OEM tyre makes and models. The Siemens TPMS monitors the pressure and the temperature inside the tyre and also measure finite acceleration based on wheel rotation and is capable of automated tyre identification. The system captures data through rotation speed as well as pressure and allows specific data from each tyre to be compared for inconsistencies within the operational and safety parameters.
It can follow individual tyres as they are refitted during “rotation” of wheels during servicing. The Siemens Automotive TPMS uses a pressure sensor and transmitter mounted in the rim flange of each wheel. The sensor can be adapted to fit a standard OEM rim.
The receiver and control unit are mounted in the dash of the vehicle and information is gathered and processed from the signals transmitted from the wheels. The TPMS has been developed to interface with Siemens keyless remote entry system and matching the TMPS with the Siemens keyless entry system allows dual use of the antennae and receiver equipment. The visual alert can be as simple as a warning LED to alert the driver that something is wrong, or an overhead console with a full display of pressures, temperature and location.
