Financial Times Report – Bridgestone Falls From Global List
Every year the UK newspaper Financial Times publishes a list of the top 500 companies in the world, ranked by market capitalisation. The only tyre company to appear in last year’s list was Bridgestone, at position number 300, but the company does not make this year’s global top 500, which is indicative of the torrid time it suffered during the Firestone recall; a time during which Bridgestone’s shares halved in value. In the list of the top 500 companies in Japan, Bridgestone is rated number 86.
Last year it came in at number 46. The Financial Times also publishes a list of Europe’s top 500 companies, and tyre firms are better represented here. The figures show the current position (last year’s position in brackets) and the market capitalisation in US$.
Special mention should be made of Sabanci Holdings, the ultimate parent of Lassa/Brisa. This features in the European top 500 at number 331, with a market cap of $4.127 bn.
