2000 Figures From Nokian
Nokian Tyres has released its financial results for last year. Some of the highlights are as follows (1999 figures in brackets). Net sales: 398.
5 m Euro (322.6 m E); an increase of 23.5 per cent.
Not counting acquisitions made during 2000, the 2000 sales figure was 359.8 m Euro, or 11.5 per cent higher.
Raw material prices rose 9.1 per cent last year. The lack of own compound mixing capability increased raw material costs, as they were purchased from outside suppliers.
Fixed costs rose 36 per cent to 141.1 m Euro (103.7 m).
79 per cent of these costs were attributable to the tyre retail chain. Operating profit was 39.4 m Euro (42.
1 m). Profit from manufacturing was 43.0 m Euro (38.
5 m) while the tyre retail chain made a loss of 1.7 m Euro (4.5 m).
Net profit was 19.8 m Euro (25.7 m).
Allowing for acquisitions, the 2000 figure was 25.6 m Euro. R&D costs were 8.
3 m Euro, or 2.1 per cent of net sales (7.8 m).
