US auto sales in 1999 reached 17.4 million; a 9.1% increase over 1998.

Audi car sales rose 39% to 65,959, Porsche sold 17,243 cars (+21%) and Mercedes 189,437 (+11.3%). Chrysler “only” achieved an increase of 5.
